The DWBC of Montreal Center with the North East Sanghas welcomes you this Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday 8 to 2 evenings and one day of teachings, meditation practice and good time with traveling teacher Stewart Jarvis from Australia.

Tuesday, September 7th:
8:00p.m.-10p.m. Public Lecture: “The Art of Happiness” and Guru Yoga meditation.

Wednesday, September 8th

8:00p.m.-10p.m. Public Lecture: “Meditation- Exploring the Mind” and Guru Yoga meditation.

Please note that during this day (adding to the lecture at 8p.m.) there will teachings, meditation sessions and time for questions and answers with Stewart Jarvis. Please note that to find parking around the area could take some extra time. We suggest to park on Esplanade Street or Waverly Street (3 blocks East of Hutchison Street).

Stewart Jarvis

Stewart Jarvis is from Perth, Western Australia. Since graduating from university he has been working as a biology teacher in High Schools for 22 years. While studying martial arts at a university he began to study Buddhism and meditation. He traveled to live in Japan in 1991 and met Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah there in 1993. After several years of travel, mainly in the Indian Himalayas, he and his wife returned to Perth and founded the Diamond Way Center there with Lama Ole's blessing. In 1999 Stewart traveled to Kalimpong, NE India to work as a tutor for the 17th Karmapa. This lasted for one and a half years until the end of 2000. Stewart has lived in India, France, Japan and Nepal. He has traveled extensively through Asia and Europe. He recently traveled on two teaching tours of the Diamond Way centers in Russia.

  • Introduction to Buddhism:
    Every first Tuesday of every month at 7p.m.

  • Guided Guru Yoga meditation (in group) and explanation of a Buddhist teaching:
    Tuesdays at 7pm.
    Thursdays at 7pm.
    Fridays at 6pm.

  • Personal Ngondro practice (Preliminary practices):
    Wednesdays mornings: from 7am until 10am

6:00 - 8:00 “The six liberating actions” and Guru Yoga meditation

12:00- 1:00 Q and A
1:00 - 3:00 “Death and rebirth” and Guru Yoga meditation
3:00 and on Hang out time in Montreal for those who wish to stay longer!

*Please note that we will have delicious lunches at nearby restaurants (10$-15$).


Remember to bring:

  • Hawaiian out-fit for the party on Saturday!
  • Your own sleeping bag and a comfortable mat to sleep in (for friends outside Montreal).
  • Your meditation material (cushion –if possible-, booklets, blanket)
  • Swimming suit or bikini just in case!
  • Towel and your personal cleaning stuff
